He stands

Eli took about 6 weeks to learn to crawl. He took about 6 days to learn to pull up to stand. He's obsessed.

Lifestyle

We toss around the term "lifestyle" photography alot, and sometimes I am not entirely clear on what it means. If it means that I don't have to get up off my bed while shooting, then these images qualify for sure. If it also means that it's okay that I didn't brush my kids' hair before photographing them, these images score on two counts.

All taken in our bedroom. I don't do enough natural light stuff these days. Partly because with the windows (slightly dirty) and then the storm windows and then the plastic Derek put up to help with the drafts, there really isn't alot of great light in our upstairs rooms this winter. Partly also because I strongly dislike the decor in the house - carpeting, wallpaper, everything. It's going to be awhile before most of it gets changed, though, so I better start getting used to it showing up in pictures I guess.

Some of these are repeats from Facebook. Sorry.

Eli at the top of the stairs.

Eli peeking over the edge of the bed. Probably to see what his sisters are up to.

Gracie. I love to make her laugh. It's not that hard. :)

I commented on Facebook that the little Panda Bear there is named Oreo, which Grace says like "O-wee-o". He is her very favorite little friend these days. I was tempted to go back to the Science Museum where he came from and buy a couple more, just in case, but he is so well-loved and abused that I don't think I could possibly get away with a decoy.

Eli crawling.

Eli after the bath. Derek made his hair stick out in tufts from behind his easrs and he look just like Grandpa Munster. Just. Like. Him. We couldn't get him to hold still for the pose, though. So we got this one which makes me laugh.

Today

My little friend Grace. She very rarely lets me photograph her. I am always happy to get some that look just like her to me.

Eli is finally feeling better after his virus. He still seems to be grouchy from what we think is teething, though.

Last Night

We got out to the playground yesterday evening thanks to the nice stretch of weather and daylight savings time. It almost seemed like spring. Eli loved the baby swing. Charlotte has been waiting all winter to push him in the swing. I love the way she gets so excited over new milestones for him. He is trying to pull himself up to stand now and she is talking all about when he will walk. And when he will eat real food and when he will learn to say "Charlotte".

Here is his new tooth.

His good mood belies the fact that he came home with a fever yesterday and had a horrible night. This virus just won't go away. The two of us left to get it are me and Grace. I'm fine with it if it's in my future, but let's hope for all of our sakes that Grace dodges the bullet on this one.

Charlotte had her Kindergarden evaluation yesterday so we got to spend the day together. She did great. She is very excited about starting school in the fall. This new spring dress was in the mailbox when we got home so she wanted to put it on right away. She agreed to twirl for the camera in order to show it off.

Chubby baby

Eli is very cute crawling these days. It's slow and deliberate. He has to concentrate on the coordination necessary. Arm, knee, arm, knee. Sometimes he loses track and does something like hop forward with both knees at the same time. Haltingly, he makes his way towards whatever he has his eye on. He definitely goes, though. I set him down and he comes right straight at the camera before I can get back into position. Focusing on a moving target was tough, and this one is really pretty soft. Passable for web size, though, and I think it really looks just like him.

Charlotte

It was raining, so we stuck to the porch. She is dry, I was getting a little wet. She's perched up on top of the rolls of carpet that Derek ripped out of the front studio room last week. The new floors are going to be great.

A nap

Eli sleeping on Daddy's lap this afternoon. For any photographers reading this (hi Doni!) these were taken at ISO 3200, F2.8 and SS 1/25. That's not a typo, it was really 1/25.

He looked so cute snuggled up there. He loves to sleep on Derek.

I have some of Charlotte to post tomorrow. She actually wanted to be photographed today. She even picked out the sweater she could wear. I was thrilled.
